BBB: Tell us 3 things not in your bio we don’t know about you that might make us leery of befriending you. LOL
LJ: I believe in all sorts of strange things! I really do believe that there is too much evidence of faeries, Sasquatches and aliens to discount them as figments of our imaginations, only! I also think that people who read are the most open-minded and intelligent people on the planet. People who are not afraid of exploring new frontiers… people who see depth within the shadows. Lastly, I never want age to stop my forward progress- it seems that the older I get the younger and fresher I feel! So, keep reading, and writing and adventuring in this strange and wonderful world we have!
BBB: What actors would you choose to play some of your characters if your book were made into a movie or a TV show?
LJ: I have often thought that if my vampire novel, Detour To Dusk) was optioned to film, I would like to see Jensen Eckles (Dean Winchester of Supernatural) play the part of the vampire, Raul. The “Good” vampire would be perfectly played by, Timothy Olyphant. In Onio— I don’t know his name offhand, but I know you know who I mean when I say the werewolf in True Blood— sheesh! He would do nicely!
BBB: How do you keep track of your world building?
LJ: I am a real “panster” when it comes to my world building and sometimes I do get lost, but I have great beta-readers who help me keep things straight… and yes, yellow sticky notes all over the place!
BBB: Please tell us more about Onio and the storyline that drives it.
LJ: Onio is a one-quarter human Sasquatch who yearns to learn more about “small humans”. So much so, he allows himself to be seen by one Melody Carver, as she drives down the road in the middle of a blizzard. She is so startled and frightened by what she sees, she loses control of her car on the icy roads and Onio is forced to save her from certain death. Now though, Melody is thrust into the strange and magical world of a hidden species!
BBB: How many more books there be in this world?
LJ: Onio is already making an appearance in my newest novel, The War of Odds! He and his full-blooded brothers are sent in to help Sara Giddings as she attempts to heal Timaron (king of the Unseelie court) of the dark demons who have possessed his mind, and prompted him to declare war on humankind!
BBB: Did you do any kind of research to determine the details of your characters lives / lifestyles?
LJ: No, not really. Onio and his people sprang like weeds right out of my imagination— However, there are a lot of military aspects to this novel, and that had to be researched very carefully!
BBB: Are you a plotser or a panster? or a Planster (a combo of both – lol)
LJ: Panster all the way… grits teeth in frustration!
BBB: What types of creatures can readers expect in your world?
LJ: Sasquatches, aliens, faeries, demons… if you can think of something supernatural, you’ll probably find it in one of my novels.
BBB: What’s coming up for you in 2013 and 2014?
LJ: I just published an Indy novel (my first Indy endeavor). I did this because it is entered in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards contest and so it must be an independent work. The name if this novel is The War of Odds, and it is a YA fantasy! Wish me luck! I might start a sequel to Detour To Dusk- many people wish to hear more about Raphael, king of the vampires!
