Character Interview – Arthfael – Taken By The Huntsman by Mistral Dawn

Today I have an interview for you with Arthfael who resides in the awesome book Taken By The Huntsman by fellow author Mistral Dawn.

Discarded and ignored by those around her for most of her life, Cassie is a lonely human woman struggling to find her place in the world and meaning in her life. Cadeyrn is the Erlking, the leader of the Wild Hunt, a hundreds of thousands of years old Fae who has always known his purpose. He has spent his entire long existence tracking the criminals of Fairie and punishing them for their crimes.
While hunting for the murderer of a child who has escaped to Earth Cadeyrn comes across Cassie and realizes that she is the one that the great mother goddess has designated as his soul mate. He kidnaps her and takes her to his fortress in Fairie to protect her from his many enemies. He knows she will be angry and that he’ll have to work to earn her trust, but he finds his task to be even more challenging than he had thought it would be due to Cassie’s difficulty in opening her heart.
Will Cadeyrn be able to convince Cassie that the bond between them is real and earn her love?

Body Type: Six feet tall, built like a line-backer

Facial  features: Squashed in face with a big round nose

Skin type/tone: leathery, warm brown

Ears: Normal

Interesting physical characteristics: He’s half Brownie and half Giant.


Where and when were you born? In the mountains of the Giants.

Where have you lived? With the Giants, with the Brownies in the Summer Court, and in the castle of the Erlking.

Family members? None I’m in contact with.

Schooling? It’s different in Fairie.


Hi Arthfael, welcome, can you tell us how do you feel about the ending of the book, without giving too much away?

Very happy that the master and his Anamchara were able to work things out.

What words of wisdom would you give Mistral if she decided to write another book with you in it?

To try to understand how difficult it can be for someone who is born different.

Do you think Mistral portrayed you accurately?

I do. Mistral understands that it can be hard for those who society rejects.

Was there a major turning point in your life?

When I came to live in the Erlking’s household and found some measure of acceptance.

What is your most closely guarded secret?

My heritage. Strangers never understand.

How do you envision your future?

Helping the master as much as possible, and maintaining order in his household. There are also a couple of Brownie females I’d like to know better, if I can ever work up the courage.

How do you decide if you can trust someone?

I rely on the master’s judgement.

What parts of loving come easy to you ?  Hard?

I love easily, but have always been rejected. Even my parents were unable to truly accept me once I reached maturity.

What are you most afraid of?

Being turned away from service to the Erlking.

What are you especially proud of in your life?

Having worked my way up to a position of trust in my master’s household.
